Racing Schedule Filling Up

2914
My race schedule for the year is really filling up. And when I say for the year, only one race is past the half way point for the year. More correctly, my spring is really filling up. I thought I'd share my upcoming races. I always like seeing what races others are running, because it actually helps me find new races to run in the future.

I think I have a pretty good mix laid out. I have some longer races, a ten mile and half, as well as a couple of shorter distances. I'm really looking forward to my second half marathon to try and build upon that success. I also have some races just for fun, which is important to have as well. So, with that all in mind, here are my races.

Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run (April 6th)

Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run
My first upcoming race is the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run in Washington D.C. I entered the lottery in December hoping to get a spot in the race and I was successful. I'll be running this race with a coworker, Jeff who also made it in. The one piece of the race that has me worried at this time, because I am behind where I should be in my training at this time, is the 14 minute per mile pace. I know I can run this pace, as I did over the summer, but I'm not at that level now. I also felt I had more time until the race back in January, but when I went to work out a schedule, realized how much shorter the training time left was. Combined with the weather not cooperating (I'm looking at you 14" of snow) and a cold, I really need to kick it into high gear. I need some good runs coming up to build my confidence. I'm excited, but nervous excited.

Loudoun Half Marathon (April 13th)

Loudoun Half & 8k
I wanted to run another half marathon after completing my first at Walt Disney World. I also wanted a local one, to save on cost. I found a race up in Ashburn, VA, the Loudoun Half. This race will be one week after the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run, because I make sense like that. I'm actually pretty excited about. I'm excited to get a second half marathon under my belt. This race meets the local requirement. In addition, it is the inaugural race which is cool two-fold. First, since it is the first year, price is nice. At the time of my registration, it was just $40. Now, through March 15, it's $55, then $65 and $70 at packet pick up if space is available. Second, I just find it cool to be a part of an inaugural race. It's Loudoun county, so it's not like I'm a part of something that will be gigantic or anything, but being there first is cool, none the less.

Manassas Runway 5K (April 27th)

At the end of the month of April, I'll be running a 5K. This race has a 5K and a 10K across the Manassas Regional Airport. I think the unique experience of running on a runway will be a lot of fun. In addition, both the 5K and 10K come with a tech shirt and a medal, for a still fairly low price. The main reason for choosing this race is we have some friends running this race. I'm looking for a shorter distance than my other races for something a little more relaxing.

Color Run Hershey (June 1st)

To kick off the month of June, I'll be starting off with my first color run. I'll be running in Hershey, PA to celebrate my sister's birthday. She decided she wanted to run a race, so I obliged. The race will be run through Hershey Park, which I'll be looking forward to. I know a lot of people who have had fun on color runs like this one, so I'm sure it will be a good time. From what I've heard, the key will be keeping from getting as much of the color as possible from in my nose.

Christmastown Dash 8K

Christmas Town Dash 8K
The last of my races currently on my calendar is the Christmastown Dash 8K. This is the race from last year that got rained out. My registration was pushed to this year, so we'll be celebrating in Williamsburg again for Grand Illuminations, not that I mind it. I'm looking forward to this race. The main reason is I was looking forward to it last year. The christmas decorations should be a fun environment to run through. Additionally, Sam and Steph are signed up for the fun run. Sam constantly talks about needing to go run a race, ever since I ran in Florida.

As you can see, I have a pretty busy schedule. Who knows if it will grow, but this is where it stands now. I'm excited for the races (even if there aren't any other runDisney races on there).

What's your schedule looking like? Any races you're really looking forward to?
