Favorite First Swags | #FridayFive

Happy Friday everyone. It's been a long week, so I'm so glad it's Friday. On the plus side, I have gotten all my training runs in for the Runner's World Hat Trick, so that's something. Speaking of races, this week's Friday Five linkup topic is Favorite Race Swag. Now, I still consider myself early in my running career. I haven't done that many races and with those races, I haven't gotten too many unique swag items. Usually it amounts to a shirt and a medal at most. So instead, I decided to turn it a little. But let's face it, the pictures matter most, so I'll stop talking.

Favorite First Swags

1. First Race - Rockstar 8K

My first ever race, with a very nice shirt. [Recap]

2. First Half Marathon - Walt Disney World Half Marathon

As I always say, hard to go wrong with Disney. [Recap]

3. First Challenge Medal - BRATS Holiday Series

Three fun 5Ks [Recap, Recap]

4. First Triathlon - Salute to the Military Tri

First tri, and I will tri again.

5. First #RunRideHydrate

Ok, I didn't know what to call this, but it was the inaugural and it is my MOST comfortable shirt.

Do any of your firsts have cool swag? Do you wear your free race shirts ever or do they sit in a drawer?

  1. Nice take on this FF theme! You are always creative. For some reason (until the week was happening) I had no idea #RunRideHydrate was happening! Oops - next year. I wear some of my shirts (usually the long sleeved ones in the winter) and alot are in a drawer :)

    1. I wear a good number of them. The ones that are "just" t-shirts get a lot less often wear than the tech shirt ones, but the Nuun shirt is so soft and comfortable.

  2. Nice swag! I wear the fitted women's tanks but the generic white unisex race shirts sit in the drawer or get donated. Have a nice weekend!

    1. I've wanted a Nuun t-shirt to just wear around for a while, so this really worked out. Disney races are so fun. Cant wait for my next one: Dopey Challenge in 2017.

    1. That's very exciting. The half for marathon weekend at Disney was my first half. Definitely good to read up on first. I have a couple of posts on here that may help, haha.

    1. It is simply amazing. I'm so glad I'm back to being able to "dress like a developer" as I put it and wear t-shirts to work. That one will get worn often, haha.

  6. I never wear my race shirts! They never seem to fit quite right. My fave medal is the RnR Vegas it glows in the dark

  7. I still wear all my race shirts. I have been wanting to get a quilt made sometime but I need to get more shirts so I can decide which ones to use.

    1. I really love the quilt idea. So want to do that eventually, once I start to have way too many, haha.

  8. I'm getting ready to repurpose some of my race shirts into a skirt! I love my long sleeved race shirts (Space Coast and WIne & Dine) but it's rarely cold enough here to wear them!

    1. That's a cool idea. Long sleeve ones are pretty cool. Winter here has no problem being cold enough for them, haha.
