Five Justifying Running Tips | #FridayFive

It's Friday again. As I get ready to right this post (on Thursday), I was working on convincing myself I wanted to wake up early tomorrow morning to run, instead of sleeping and running Friday evening. I know my morning run on Wednesday was beautiful weather, and Friday will be too, but it wasn't quite enough to convince myself. Sometimes you just need to justify it or something else in your brain. This week's Friday Five linkup topic is running tips. I decided I would use a little bit of what I used on myself. Sometimes, you just need some justification to get out there. I know it's not great self control or self discipline, but sometimes just is that way, and maybe one of these will work for you in a pinch.

Five Justifying Running Tips

1. For training distance

Well, 5 miles is half of 10 miles, which is almost 13 miles, so that's close enough to a half marathon.

2. For food

I know Tom is going to bring donuts to work tomorrow, so if I get up and run, I can have the donut I know I'm going to eat anyway.

P.S. This is the one I used for getting up to run Friday

3. For running gear

You need the optimum gear for optimum performance, so if I'm going to go all in for training, I need to get some new stuffs.

4. For race entries

By registering for the race, I'm helping get myself to run, which is getting myself healthy. Therefore, the more races I run, the more I'm doing for my health.

5. For my wife

If I sign up to run in Disney, that means I get to go to Disney, so I guess I'll run 13.1 miles.

Do you ever justify or bribe yourself?

  1. I justify my running all the time! Either to myself or my husband!! Sometimes we just have to do it because we're doing it for ourselves, even when others don't understand it.

  2. I like all your justifying. Especially the food. I always make sure I do a little something more when I know I'm going to eat something that isn't the healthiest later that day.

  6. Definitely with you on 2 & 3. Will run for food, and its an excuse to buy great gear. Both of which I did (too much of) this past week while on vacation....

  7. LOL these are great justifications! 5 is half of 10 which IS almost 13. I may end up using this exact justification today!! OHHH and I do NEED new running shoes - my are all dirty! Thanks and have a great weekend!

    1. Sounds like you need to go get yourself some new gear. And might I say, running shoes can be one of the most important pieces, so you definitely should get some. It'd be unsafe to not (a little bonus justification).

  8. I usually guilt myself into running off the snacks I already ate, but buying new running gear is great motivation to get out there too!

    1. Yeah, sometimes I use motivation, sometimes guilt, whatever gets me out there. Guilt isnt sustainable, but it works.
